Cool library quote!

Whilst flicking through one of the latest library-type magazines that made its way to my desk, I came across the following quote:

"I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library," Jorge Luis Borges (1899-1986), Argentinian short-story writer, poet and critic. You can find out more about Jorge Luis Borges from our Oxford Reference Online database, via the library web pages.

  1. Here's a good one from Lord Samuel that I found in Oxford Reference Online (which also tells you how to cite your quotation!):-

"A library is thought in cold storage."

  3. Libraries are as forests, in which not only tall cedars and oaks are to be found, but bushes too and dwarfish shrubs; and as in apothecaries' shops all sorts of drugs are permitted to be, so may all books be in a library.

    William Drummond of Hawthornden (1585-1649)

  4. The only true equalisers in the world are books; the only treasure-house open to all comers is a library; the only wealth which will not decay is knowledge; the only jewel which you can carry beyond the grave is wisdom.
