Celebrate St. Valentine's Day, by telling us via our library blog what you love about your SMU Library, between 14th - 20th February! It could be one of our resources, or services, or even a helpful member of staff.
By doing so you could win a box of chocolates and a gift card worth £10 (see photo) so please remember to leave your full name with your comment!
On Monday 21st February we'll be choosing someone at random to receive the goodies, so have a think, and let us know!!
(Please note, due to the nature of the promotion it is only open to SMU students & staff)
I love everything about our library - the books, the journals, all the staff, and all the students who use it!! Do I get my prize now?
ReplyDeleteI love the helpful friendly staff, i love how organised, tidy and modern the library's appearance is and the colourful stain-glass windows which brighten and inspire.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Howard! I'm afraid we'll have to wait for some more responses though before we choose someone at random next Monday to win the prize! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love how easy is to find books and journals in our library. I love seeing how helpful, friendly and always smiling all staff members are when we have enquiry. I love the technology that the library uses, and how easy is to take, return or renew the books there these days.
ReplyDeleteSMU Library is the best!
I love the helpful staff, the tidiness and openness of the library. I love that its always open in the weekends and holidays but most of all I love all the self-service stuff! It makes borrowing, returning and putting money on your card so much quicker and easier!
ReplyDeleteI love you, SMU Library! :D
Peace & quiet :)
ReplyDeleteWhat's not to love about the SMU library?! The staff are fantastic- nothing is too much trouble, and have helped me out no end with a variety of help requests; I love the whole reservation system, which is so easy to use and guarantees you get the books you want; I love that it is clean and airy; I love that there are quiet places to study; I love the IT support people, as they have no problem helping out with either simple or complex help requests; I love the book selections available; but most of all, I LOVE the feeling that we are all in it together, and the SMU library is one big supportive family! Thankyou for instilling this feeling in me ;D
ReplyDeleteI am thankful that there are libraries dedicated at our university. The peace and quiet, and helpful staff, make my life a lot easier, and calmer when looking for materials for research and essay/report writing. Sometimes it is useful for the computer rooms, sometimes photocopying- there are many things our library can do that people take advantage of. I heard recently on the news that they were planning to shut down a lot of libraries, I hope this doesn't happen in our area. I also love the staff especially for their knowledge of books, patience and politeness to the students, even when we are being loud.
ReplyDeleteGreat writer Maxim Gorky, the former Soviet Union, said: "Books are the ladder of human progress." Our SMU library, not very big, but has a lot of good books, interior decoration with strong cultural atmosphere, felt very warm by people.
ReplyDeleteAll library staff are thoughtful, enthusiastic and meticulous, the library is managed very well under their responsible and reasonable management. If you are who frequently go to the library, you can enjoy high quality service from their seemingly most mundane work!SMU - Best For Everyday!
I personally find the library to be an invaluable resource. The many books covering many different subject areas are obviously an asset to the substance of an assignment. But it gets even better, the fact that experienced helpful staff are on hand to offer any assistance they can.
ReplyDeleteI love the English section! There seems to be some new or over-looked jewel there every time you look and they always have the perfect book for that assignment lurking in between those shelves.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeously quiet and the staff are always happy to help even if they know you're going to be causing them trouble...
Great library!
I love that I never get bored in there. I go in between lectures and always find a book that will inspire a new project idea.
ReplyDeleteI love the helpful informative staff who have always made me feel that nothing is too much trouble - even over the telephone - thanks your efforts are appreciated!:)
ReplyDelete"It's the staff, stupid!"
ReplyDeleteAnd before anyone gets offended by the language, this is a non-too-subtle reference to Bill Clinton's desk message...
(Might be a bit risky, referencing Bill Clinton:-
Guardian Angel)
Thanks everyone for your interesting (and lovely) comments so far!!
ReplyDeletePlease also consider setting yourself up as a SMU Library Blog Follower, so you will be kept up to date by our future informative & exciting postings! :-)
I love that the library has such varied and up-to-date resources. I especially love the Saturday staff who are very lovely and super helpful (!) I love that I might get chocolate for posting this!
ReplyDeletePhilippa Price is very nice!
ReplyDeleteThe other staff are too.
We couldn't work without their help,
à bientôt, Bienvenu!
I love how quiet the library is, the plentiful resources, the very helpful staff that never keep you waiting :) Most of all I love how organised the shelves are downstairs, I usually get so confused in other libraries! <3
ReplyDeleteI love how friendly and knowledgeable the staff are and how helpful they are in helping me find things even when they're right in front of my eyes!
ReplyDeleteThere is knowledge and there is understanding; there are libraries and there is Swansea Metropolitan University's library. Where else would one want to go to learn; clean and pleasant environment and of course wonderful staff!
ReplyDeleteI even needed help to post a comment - Thank you to all the library staff.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy all the good art resources in the dynevor library, especially the graphic novels, art books, and scetchbooks. It is very inspirational.
ReplyDeleteI love you library because you are ours. I love you because of what you represent, and because of what you can reveal to us. I love you because you can be the gateway to knowledge and the springboard for our imagination. I love you because you are so much more than books on shelves. You are a place in which we can be alone wih our thoughts, or connected to the universe.I love you because when I am ignorant I can achieve understanding, when I am confused I can achieve clarity, when I am bland I can achieve inspiration. I love you because I can be with you.
ReplyDeleteI love the way those cunning librarians have played on our greediness for chocolate to get us filling up the blog. Hands off, you lot, that chocolate's MINE!
