Cwtch up with a book!
There’s definitely a chill in the air out there! It’s the
perfect weather for cosying up by the fire and settling down with a good book
(and perhaps a cup of tea and a biscuit!). With that in mind, the staff at
Townhill Library have picked out some ‘cosy fireside reads’ to tempt you this
Autumn. See anything you fancy?

Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the library…
Click to see what we've got in our haunted house!
It’s Halloween today and we’re feeling spooky here at UWTSD
Swansea libraries! You’ll find witchy, ghoulish and scary books and DVDs on show
in each of our four libraries, though we think Owen Library at Mount Pleasant
has to take the prize for most frightening display with their collection of
study skills books! (Take a couple of these titles home, though, and that
research and revision won’t be nearly so worrying.) Take a look at our video
and pictures for a taster of what’s available, then pop in and borrow
something, if you’re brave enough!

Saint David's Day
| St David's Day display at SBS Library |
Your UWTSD libraries are getting into the spirit of things too, with Welsh-themed displays at Swansea Business School and Townhill Libraries. You’ll find Welsh travel guides and books about our country’s history at SBS and folk tales and fiction at Townhill Library. You’ll also find a selection of the Library of Wales series on the shelves at Townhill, so have a look for those if you fancy some fiction set in Wales. We have language resources at both SBS and Townhill Libraries, so if you’ve ever fancied learning Welsh, why not pick up some books and CDs to help?

Spooky reads (and films!) at The Griffith Library, Dynevor
For some Halloween-inspired reads, or scary films, look no further than the Griffith Library at Dynevor! We've put together a little display (complete with a book-eating pumpkin!) highlighting some of our choice films and books for this spooky time of year. The display will be up until Saturday, and you are welcome to come in and choose something from there, if you dare...

Have you heard the one about...?
Today sees the announcement of the funniest joke of this
year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival,
so it seems an apt time to unveil Townhill Library’s Comedy display! Your Swansea
Met library might not be the first place you’d think to go for some laughs, but
we have quite a selection of funny DVDs and books available for loan. Some of
the highlights have been gathered together for your perusal at Townhill
Library, so do call in and have a look. From the classic Monty Python’s Meaning
of Life to David Walliams’ Mr Stink, we’ve quite a range to offer you! Remember,
due dates are extended over the summer vacation, so if you borrow something now you
won’t have to bring it back until the 4th October.(In case you were wondering, the funniest joke is by Rob Auton, who's heard a rumour that Cadbury is bringing out an oriental chocolate bar. It could be a Chinese Wispa.)
